Curating and Project Direction

We Here was a public art project focusing on youth, creativity, and pottery, led by artist Roberto Lugo, Mural Arts Philadelphia and a Community Advisory Council (CAC) of Kensington residents. The project unfolded over two years and culminated in the installation of three monumental outdoor sculptures by Lugo at sites across Kensington during Summer 2024. Lugo’s unique blend of classical ceramics and urban culture invited the Kensington community to see art as a mirror of their collective creativity, identity and strength. My role as Curator of Public Engagement focused on developing public programs for the project, in collaboration with the CAC, and editing a 60-page catalogue with a group interview and texts by me, Sarah Archer and Kelli Morgan, to be published by Mural Arts in May 2025.
